It was just two years after 9/11 and the reverence of Ground Zero reverberated in the silence on the lips of passersby. Honor for those who gave their lives to save the lives of thousands. Respect for the hallowed ground where heroes were buried on that day. Prayers for the families left behind. All spoken only by the heart.
Ten years have passed since terror struck our nation, vengeance exploding through skyscrapers filled with people, hatred poured out on innocent lives and hearts of families. A country numb from shock watched helplessly as the horrifying pictures scrolled endlessly over television screens.
Then compassion met vengeance. Prayers battled hatred. Response overcame numbness. And people throughout the country moved to meet the needs and heal the wounds of lives scarred by terror.
In the ten years since 9/11, many more men and women in military uniforms have given their lives in defense of the sacredness of their countrymen's lives. They've fought to preserve the freedoms on which our country was founded, to protect our peace and our families, to give us the opportunity for happiness.
May we always remember the heroes of 9/11, the cause that united our country as one, the battle so many have fought since then, and most importantly the need to pray for our nation. May we return to the truth upon which our country was founded. A freedom rooted in the precepts of the Word of God. Then we will truly be united as one, strong as a nation prepared for any battle, and prayerfully bowed before our God and King.
May the cross-formed beams that stood as a reminder of God's presence in the midst of terror at Ground Zero always remind us of Who holds us together.
